Barry S. Washington was appointed to the Council by Governor McCrory in October, 2014.
Pastor Barry S. Washington was born in Wake County, North Carolina. He attended and graduated from the Wake County School System before moving to Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He is married to Camilla F. Washington.
Pastor Washington attended Winston-Salem State University and Shaw University, where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and now attends Thomas University pursuing a Masters’ Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling. He, also, received a Master’s Degree of Theology Studies from Vision International University. He received his certification of ordination from Calvary Baptist Church of Fayetteville, North Carolina on December 26, 1998.
Barry is the Founder and Visionary of Whole Man Ministries of NC, where he is the Executive Director and Pastor of Whole Man Ministries of NC, he has started a project called Homes 4 Our Heroes, rehabbing dilapidated houses and provide permanent residence for homeless veterans. He also is employee at The Enrichment Center where he is an Instructor and Employment Specialist assisting those with various disabilities and special needs with education and employment.
Barry believes a person is not defined by his/her disabilities, but by his/her personal qualities, personality, and character. He is Honored to serve The State on North Carolina on The Independent Living Council.
