Kay Miley has been an advocate for people with disabilities since 1986 when she was a rehabilitation nurse at NC Baptist hospital. She is a founding member of several nonprofit organizations including the Adaptables, the Windhorse foundation, and Kapabilities. She is trained in the Americans with Disabilities Act and has held several seminars and training in ADA over the years. She has experience in being an independent living specialist and coordinator with Centers for Independent Living.
She lives in Rockingham County and her hobbies include photography, doll collecting, and HAM radio. She is a member of Rockingham County Amateur Radio Club, NC Disability Action Network, National Council on Independent Living where she serves on several subcommittees, and Rockingham County Aging Committee.
