Patricia Sikes is NC Division of Services for the Blind’s (DSB) representative. She has a Masters in Rehabilitation Psychology and Counseling from UNC-Chapel Hill and a graduate certificate in Low Vision Rehabilitation from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry (now Salus University). Patricia has worked with DSB since 1999, beginning her career with the agency as an Independent Living Rehabilitation Counselor. In 2004, she moved into the role of Low Vision Program Specialist and became a Certified Low Vision Therapist. In 2013, she became the Chief of Rehabilitation Programs and Facilities. This role oversees DSB’s Rehabilitation Center for the Blind, Evaluation Unit, facility-based low vision services, Deaf Blind Services, outreach, assistive technology and the Independent Living Rehabilitation and Independent Living Older Blind programs. Patricia indicates she appreciates having the opportunity to serve with this diverse group who is working together to best meet the independent living needs of individuals with disabilities in North Carolina.
