Goal 2 Meeting Minutes March 15 2016

Gary reviewed our work.  We are to Monitor, Review, and Evaluate (MRE) activities in the Goal 2 part of the current State Plan.  For today’s meeting, we did not have enough numbers to perform these tasks.  The SILC Office will attempt to begin to standardize the collection of the information we need to do our work.  It is noted that Center contracts were amended in early 2016 so all numbers may have changed. Our goal is to get the information we need to do our work in a timely and consistent reporting format.  Gary Ray and Rene Cummins will work up the report due to the SILC on April 1.  Gary will send out to members for review in input.
It is noted that the Youth Leadership Form will report to the SILC during our report on April 1, 2016.
Current Goal 2 reads: Goal 2 – Leadership and Empowerment of Individuals with Disabilities
Objective 2.1: Youth with disabilities are prepared for leadership roles.
Activities: 
* Youth with disabilities participate in a Youth Leadership Forum each year.
* Youth with disabilities receive training about Independent Living.
* Teachers and parents of youth with disabilities have access to resources concerning independent living and transition experiences.
Objective 2.2: people with disabilities and the community at large are educated on disability policies and regulations on federal, state and local levels.
Activities: 
* People with disabilities participate in training events and conferences.
* People with disabilities educate the community at large as well as people with disabilities on policies and regulations.
People with disabilities provide presentations on Disability History and Awareness, especially in the month of October.
