Karla Gray is a resident of Rowan County and the mother of 2 sons. She was born and raised in Hot Springs National Park, Arkansas and lived in various areas of Arkansas for a significant part of her life. She moved to North Carolina in 2000 and loves the state. Professionally, she is a Licensed Recreational Therapist and a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist. She is also a certified ADA Coordinator. She currently works for Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation as the ADA Compliance Officer and is part of a three-member County wide team focusing on ADA for Mecklenburg County. Prior to her current role, she was the Senior Manager for Therapeutic and Inclusive Recreation Services with Mecklenburg County. During her 31-year career in therapeutic recreation, she has held a variety of positions within both the Federal Government and County Government. Karla received both her undergraduate and her graduate degrees from the University of Arkansas. She and her family love to travel and explore new places around the South. Most weekends you can find them on the road going to a festival, a museum or a historic site.
